drupal camp toronto 2010

Last weekend, Evolving Web headed to Toronto for another successful 2010 Drupal Camp. The Drupal community in Toronto is thriving, and there were lots of enthusiastic attendees including freelancers, hobbyists, and service providers. Attendees came from all over Southern Ontario, as well as Quebec and the United States.

Although we only made it to the second day of the camp, we got to see some great presentations, incuding Jeff Eaton's insightful take on the Drupal ecosystem and Everett Zufelt's talk about Accessibility in Drupal.

The camp was held at the Toronto Reference Library, a fantastic location in the heart of downtown Toronto. The space allowed for a great mix of learning and socializing. 'Birds of a Feather' sessions were held around large conference tables, allowing for a wide variety of topics to be discussed at once.

Evolving Web presented two sessions at the camp: one on Drush and the other on Panels.

Using Drush

Using Drush presented an overview of how to install Drush, some common Drush commands, and how to write a simple Drush extension. It was presented by Alex Dergachev, our co-founder and lead developer and Daniele Degano, one of our project managers and a Linux enthusiast.

Architecting Drupal Sites with Panels

Architecting Drupal Sites with Panels provided a summary of the concepts behind Panels 3 as well as some motivation for using it. It was presented by Suzanne Kennedy and followed up by a demo of Panels 3 by Vin Patel from Mind Trades.
